Sounds like santana

Just the style and sound of the guitar, very good work, it's hard to keep up with someone playing like that on guitar with drums. Honestly, I wish my audio submissions to this site could have that much feeling, and that good of tone. For my actual critisizm, tell frank to try keeping with tempo a little better, it seems like he is just playing randomly in some places, not talking about the shredding, because that really doesn't rely on tempo.

Very good song, good job to you and same to frank.

Musical-Pants responds:

Hey, thanks.
Yeah, it was pretty hard synching everything up. In a song that runs over four minutes, a few mishaps are to be expected.
Appreciate your thoughts.

It was good

The thing that made me put it down to and 8, is that instead of resting, you add extra notes that mess up the rhythym, blues has a lot do with improvision.

I've heard funk

I don't know why your funk music is like this, or the other funk music on this site, but personally, loops don't sound good to me. I mean, it's not like the end of "Hey Jude", where it keeps being added too and it sounds better, this is just repeated things, and they are so basic. Guitar on plays 2 notes, and the same way the entire time, yes, guitar is a part of funk music. The bassline is also repetative, which is basically the center of funk music. I may seem harsh, but it takes time to create good music, not just half an hour on a computer program.

PS. For those who stroll around and whine about people giving actual critisizm instead of posting "awesome", and "best ever!!!", if you find my review offensive, put an abuse sign on it. If you find my review actually vives critisizm, and you want it to go away, why not making longer reviews yourself.

sorohanro responds:

i hate loop based music too, we might fight on the same side
well, is better before criticize to take a deeper look, that way you could find that my music is not loop based, actually i'm a classical trained musician, working in a Philarmony Orchestra, playing trumpet, guitar and piano, writting music for movies and theatre plays and playing in several bands-from funk to jazz and blues to rock ...
guitar plays a 5 notes groove to:
1-build up tension
2-not to steal attention from the main line
3-keep steady while harmony changes
i like to have same line while harmony changes, give new points of view on same melody...
as for bass, is not repetitive at all, on "chorus" repeats you can hear different tricks, from the funk line, bass is changing to a swing/walking bass line.
also every phrase ending, bass is making different fills...
so, here, listen again and check more before you accuse

Good solo, good song

The song was good, you guys went a lil slow, just neep to keep the beat better, and that's about it. Solo was great, 5/5

Smirne responds:

Yeah that's true! Thank you!

Good for pop

I mean, making pop requires little knowledge what so ever, and most is just really repeatative. But for a pop song, this is just as good as the high rank stuff, so i'll give you 10. Kindof weird to say.

Already done

This is a song out of one of my guitar books, note by note man, I don't know if you knew, but I am not giving you a five just for that. This song is also extremely easy, all done one the first 3 strings, and thier first 3 frets.

Zerce responds:

It's just a blues bassline done on a guitar. Thousands of songs have this riff in it :P It's not supposed to be a display of talent, just a cool little loop.

Funny shit

Wow, somebody got a little too connected to the anime on this site. Funny song, and cool solo.

Better than all funk here

In my opinion, this is the best funk song on this site. All the rest of these songs are just sone crappy remix of videogame crap, and have no good beat. But that, awesome, and I love how the solo comes in. I have known this song since it came onto newgrounds, and that little shred part still suprises me :)
